Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove carbon monoxide from the combustion gas of a briquet combustor by composing it of an annular side wall with secondary-air inlet holes from outside toward inner side, and a catalyst hold ring with bypath holes, a catalyst with numerous pervious holes, and a cover which forms a reaction chamber and an exhaust port between itself and the hold ring.
CONSTITUTION: The secondary air is sucked the into secondary-air inlet holes 8 of a catalyst hole ring 3 by combustion, as shown by an arrow (a). Reacting with the secondary air, most combustion gas passes through pervious holes 13 of a catalyst 9, as shown by an arrow (b), enters a reaction chamber 14, and oxidizes sufficiently, before being discharged as shown by an arrow (c). On the other hand, some of the combustion gas from briquet 2 passes through bypaths 12, as shown by an arrow (d), so as to remove resisting obstructions, enters the reaction chamber 14, and oxidizes, before being discharged. By this constitution, the catalyst permits carbon monoxide to combine with oxygen in the secondary air, so that the complete combustion is performed, and carbon monoxide can be removed.
