Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain an electrostatic latent image with reverse polarities by simultaneously subjecting a predetermined receptor having layers for transferring charges with reverse polarities to DC bias-superposed AC corona charging and exposure through the light image of an original.
CONSTITUTION: Receptor 1 is composed of the first charge transferring layer 11, charge generating layer 12 and the second charge transferring layer 13 laminated on electrically conductive substrate 10 in this order, and layers 11, 13 transfer charge carriers with reverse polarities. Receptor 1 is exposed through the light image of an original, and it is simultaneously AC-charged with AC corona from charger 2 by applying an AC discharge voltage on which DC bias with the same polarity as the polarity of a carrier to be transferred by layer 11 has been superposed. Thus, the image portion of receptor 1 is positively charged, and since a carrier generated in layer 12 is compensated, the nonimage portion is negatively charged.
