Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the anti-liquid leakage properties of a battery, by causing a liquid packing to stick on the inner surface of a base portion of the rising wall of a positive electrode can, urging against said liquid packing a gasket having the same configurations as the curvature of the inner wall of said positive electrode can, and causing said liquid packing to spread along the junction face between said inner surface and gasket. CONSTITUTION:On an inner surface 5 of a base portion of the rising wall of a positive electrode can 1, is adhered and maintained in advance a predetermined amount of liquid packing 4 such as asphalt pitch, wax, a polyamide of a fatty acid, or the like. Then, a gasket 3 having an outer peripheral curved surface 7 substantially corresponding to the inner curved surface 6 of said positive electrode can 1 is pushed in the direction shown by the arrow to seal the battery. By bending an open end portion 8 of said positive electrode can 1 inwardly, the gasket 3 is brought into contact under compression pressure with the positive electrode can 1 and the liquid packing 4 is spread along the junction face of said gasket 3 and positive electrode can 1, thereby achieving a state in which the liquid packing 4 is evenly filled at the entire junction surface. By the above arrangement, the anti-liquid leakage properties of the battery has been improved considerably.
