Abstract

PURPOSE: To make focus freely variable by bonding a light transmittable elastic film to one side face of a supporting frame and a light transmittable hard plate to the other side face, forming the inside space as a liquid cell filled with light transmittable working fluid and deforming the elastic film to convex through pressure injection of the working fluid into the liquid cell.
CONSTITUTION: The inside wall 10 of a supporting frame 1 assumes a shape close to a circular cylinder. A light transmittable elastic film 2 is bonded to one side face 12 and a light transmittable hard plate 3 to the other side face 13. In the space enclosed with the elastic film 2, supporting frame 1 and hard plate 3, a liquid cell 4 filled with light transmittable working fluid 5 is formed. The outside surface 11 of the hard plate 3 is so deformed as to become convex to the elastic film 2 side. When the working fluid 5 is filled in the liquid cell 4 where the elastic film 2 is in the state shown by the solid lines, i.e., in the state shown by underformed 16, the lens shown by the figure acts as a concave lens. When the amount of injection of the working fluid 5 is increased from this state, the elastic film 2 changes from the state of broken lines 14 to the state of broken lines 15.
