Abstract
PURPOSE:To connect a thick film optical IC and optical fibers at high precision, by printing a pattern on a substrate in a large thickness, and burying and securing a thick film optical IC and optical fibers into the recess part and groove part formed by printing. CONSTITUTION:Recess and groove are formed by printing a pattern 2 thickly on a smooth substrate 1. A thick film optical IC 5 and optical fibers 6, 7 are buried in and secured in thus formed recess and groove. In this constitution, the light 8 propagated through the optical fiber 6 is supplied to the IC 5 and spreads in the horizontal direction to propagate. The light is changed to parallel rays by a concave reflecting mirror 9 and radiated to a diffracting grating 10 to becomes diffracted light 11, which is coupled to the optical fiber 7. Thus, the IC5 and fibers 6, 7 may be connected easily and at high precision.
