Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively utilize the heat of exhaust gas of the drier of a printer, by burning the exhaust gas in the presence of a catalyst and supplying the combustion gas to the drier or exchanging heat between the combustion gas and returned air and supplying the air to the drier.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas conducted from the drier 1 of a rotary offset press and containing malodorous constitutents is introduced into a mist eliminator 8 through a pipe 6 and a valve 7 so that mist, paper powder, etc. are removed from the exhaust gas. The gas is then passed through a pipe 9 and a blower 10 so that the gas is pressurized. The gas is conducted to a heat exchanger 13 through a pipe 11 and a valve 12 so that the gas is preheated. The gas is then heated by a heater 14 and burned in contact with a catalyst in a reaction unit 15 so that the malodorous constituents are removed from the gas. The treated gas discharged from the reaction unit 15 is introduced into the heat exchanger 13 so that the treated gas which still has heat is conducted into the drier 1 through a pipe 17 or the gas is conducted into another heat exchanger 19 through a pipe 18 and gives the heat to returned air conducted from a cooling cylinder 3 and the heated air is supplied to the drier 1.
