Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform halftone recording by proportioning an electrification quantity of an ink drip to the product of the square of the flying speed of each ink drip at a deflecting electrode part and the weight of each ink drip and thus conducting both deflection and alteration of the size of ink drips simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:Simultaneously with jetting of an ink drip in designated weight from an ink-jet head 5 based on an image signal given by the source 12 of the signal, a voltage proportional to the product of the weight of the ink drip and the square of its flying speed V at the time when it passes through a deflecting electrode is outputted from a loading-voltage controlling means 10 and impressed on a loading electrode 9. By this, under the same electric field, no difference takes place in the quantity of deflection even when the weight of ink drips varies. The flying speed V of ink drips is measured beforehand and given to the loading-voltage controlling means 10 as the information about the flying speed in relation to the weight of each ink drip. The electrified ink drip 16 is deflected at the deflecting electrode 13 and struck in the prescribed position of a recording medium 17, thus recording being performed.
