Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent corona discharge from occurring between deflecting electrodes by a method wherein the leak current at the time of corona discharge is detected and the voltage applied to deflecting electrodes is regulated. CONSTITUTION:Ink particles 12 jetted from an ink jet head 1 are deflected by deflecting electrodes 5a, 5b for printing on a recording medium 10. In this case, a deflecting voltage supply circuit for the deflecting electrodes 5a, 5b is provided at its one portion with a current detecting means. For example, a resistor R is connected to the deflecting electrode 5b and a potentiometer 6 is connected between the both ends of the resistor R. The corona discharge current is detected by said circuitry, a control circuit 7 is actuated by the output signal so as to reduce or cut off the voltage applied to the deflecting electrode 5a.
