PURPOSE:To separate layers coated on the surface of medium, providing spray nozzles for spraying water or low-temperature steam into fluidized bed and thereby applying strong thermal shock to the medium. CONSTITUTION:Substances to be burnt (for instance, EP-ash) is burnt in a fluidized bed by a burner 7. As combustion is continued in the fluidized bed, a portion of ash of the substances to be burnt is coated and accumulated on particles of a fluidizing medium (for instance, sand). On the other hand, a required amount of water is supplied from a water supply header 8 to spray nozzles 9 and sprayed to expanding and then sections of the fluidized bed, so that high-temperature medium in the thin layer is crushed and separated. Substances coated on the medium, thus crushed and separated, are carried upward in body 1 and discharged to the outside from exhaust gas outlet duct 2.
