Abstract
PURPOSE:To make manufacture easy, and switching reproducibility superior and enable the obtaining of high reliability by rotating a transparent dielectric of a triangular column whose bottom surface of the isosceles triangle is a reflecting surface, about the axis parallel to the optical axis of fibers. CONSTITUTION:Incident light from an optical fiber 11 is converted to parallel light by a lens 14, after which it is reflected by a transparent dielectric prism 15 of a trianglar column which has the bottom surface of an isosceles triangle and in which the plane inclusive of the bottom side of the isosceles triangle is a total reflecting surface. After it is focussed by a lens 14', it enters a fiber 12. Switching of the optical path is accomplished by rotating the dielectric 15 by a rotating device 16. Output side fibers 12, 13 are disposed on the same circumference centering at the optical path of the input side fiber 11. Hence, as far as the prism 15 is rotating at the set angle, fluctuations will not occur in the insertion loss of the photo switch and the high switching reproducibility may be realized.
