Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform sensing or welding accurately, by defining the length of consumable electrode projecting from the torch, in the device using the welding torch commonly as the weld line sensor.
CONSTITUTION: For instance, the outer peripheral edge of a work mounting jig 105 is taken as the reference position, and a control box 400 changes a switch 204 to a power source for detection 206. Controlling the mounting jig and an arm 107 in the directions of X-, Y-, and Z-axes, a torch 109 is brought close to the reference position. The spark generated between a consumable electrode 209 at the tip of the torch and the mounting jig is detected by a current sensor 207, and the detected signal is inputted into the control box 400. Thus, the error of the length of the electrode projecting from the torch between the predetermined reference value and the actual value is obtained. According to this obtained difference, for instance, an electrode supply means 201 is controlled to send out the electrode, and the sending is stopped depending on the detection output of energization state. Thus, the projected length of the electrode is always kept constant, so that the sensing of weld line can be accurately done.
