Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the concentration of hypochlorite in the cleaning solution, by determining the concentration of hypochlorite in malodorous gas cleaning solution by the intensity of ultraviolet ray absorption in specified wavelength region, and the pH and adjusting the replenishing speed of hypochlorite from these determination.
CONSTITUTION: Gas containing malodorous gas 20 is charged into a cleaning tower 21 and cleaned with aqueous solution of hypochlorite 22, and this aqueous solution 22 is circulated while a quantity corresponding to overflow 26 is replenished from a storage tank 24. Part of circulating cleaning solution is sent into a pH meter 2 as a sample 1, and is returned to the tower 21 through an ultraviolet spectrophotometer 28. In this case, electrical signals from the pH meter 2 and photometer 28 are input into a concentration calculating unit 10, and an electric output corresponding to the concentration of hypochlorite in the cleaning solution by this calculation is sent to a replenishing pump 25 as a control signal 11 to keep the concentration of hypochlorite in the cleaning solution to a constant value. In the photometer 28, by measuring the intensity of ultraviolet ray absorption in the wavelength region of 270W330mμ of the circulating cleaning solution, an electric signal corresponding to the concentration of hypochlorite is input into the calculating unit 10.
