Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure the quick and accurate measurement for the density of NO3 - and NO2 - by filtering the analysis sample solution with addition of the salt-group solution containing the alkaline (earth) metal ion to the filtrate and then sending the filtrate passed through the active carbon layer to the flow cell of the ultraviolet ray absorption meter to carry out the specified operation based on the measured wavelength.
CONSTITUTION: The industrial waste water is sent onto drum 5 of continuous filter unit 4 via pump 2, and the filtrate is put into acceptor 9 via sucking pump 8. The filtrate and the salt-group solution containing the alkaline (earth) metal ion are sent via quantitative pumps 10a and 10b to activated carbon column 13 from tank 11 and through mixture 3-way joint 12. The colored components and the obstacles for analysis such as the organic matter or the like contained in the filtrate are adsorbed to column 13, but NO3 - and NO2 - are not adsorbed if the alkaline (earth) metal ion is contained in the filtrate. Then the filtrate is sent to cells 15a and 15b of ultraviolet ray absorption meters 16a and 16b for measurement of NO3 - and NO2 - each. And the result of measurement is recorded to recording meters 17a and 17b. Then the NO3 - density is calculated by subtracting the absorption amount obtained by multiplying the absorption amount of NO2 - near 355nm by 0.3 from the absorption amount of NO3 - near 302nm.
