PURPOSE: To simplify the method and principle plus the structure of the device as well as to secure a quick and high-accuracy analysis for the microamount sulfur by measuring continuously the ultraviolet absorption near the prescribed value while absorbing the hydrogen sulfide gas into the alkaline solution.
CONSTITUTION: The analysis test sample is heated and dissolved to produce the hydrogen sulfide, and hydrogen sulfied generation/absorption part W is provided to absorb the generated hydrogen sulfide. In addition, the following parts are provided: absorption liquid circulation/ultraviolet absorption measurement part X where the degree of the light absorption is measured while circulating the absroption liquid from hydrogen sulfide absorbing tube 1b to circulation cell 6 of the photometer; inorganic gas aspiration/sample residual liquid exhaustion part Y where the inorganic gas is blown in at the generation time of the hydorgen sulfide and the sample residual liquid is exhausted when the analysis is over; and automatic control part Z where the automatic control is given to each operation based on the prescribed program.
