PURPOSE:To enable to measure the MBrO concentration in the tested solution, by estimating the concentration of BrO<-> from the absorbance of ultraviolet rays within the range of 290-380nm for the tested solution. CONSTITUTION:Alkali liquid 3 is injected to the tested solution 1 to constitute the tested solution 1a having 11 or more pH, and the solution 1a is fed to the measuring cell 5 via the filter 4. The ultraviolet rays 7 emitted from the light source 6 are incident to the measuring cell 5, after being the monochromatic light 7a within the range of 290-380nm through the optical filter 8. The light 7a is absorbed in BrO<-> in the tested solution 1a while it passes through the measuring cell 5, and the light flux is reduced according to the ion concentration and incident to the photo detector 9 with the transmission light 7b. The output of the photo detector 11 is inputted to the operation unit 10 and the MBrO concentration signal 11a is outputted.
