Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a measurement precision with simple constitution by arranging a light source, sample cell and detector with prescribed optical situation and by providing a measured-wavelength transmissive material in the optical path of the sample cell so said material is free to enter and exit. CONSTITUTION:When the length between cell windows 3a and 3b of sample cell 3 is denoted as l1, moving measured-wavelength transmissive material 4 of diameter l2 into and out of optical path P can change the cell length to long and short length l1 and l1-l2 respectively, and consequently a measurement of wave-length modulation is feasible. Namely, if the transmitted light when transmissive material 4 exits is denoted asI1,I1is expressed by (1) and when asI2,I2is expressed by (2). The quotient between formulas 1 and 2, when denoted byI, is expressed by (3) andI or its logarithmically converted value is extracted as an output signal, so thatI0will not be included which is influenced by the deterioration of the light source and detector and the stain of the cell window. Therefore, concentration (C) can be measured with high precision through the simple constitution (in the formula,I0is incident light and (K) is the coefficient of light absorption).
