Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a vertically-magnetized type magnetic head with excellent effeciency of a high-frequency-range signal by improving the permeability of an auxiliary magnetic pole by setting the easy magnetization axis of the auxiliary magnetic pole in parallel to a magnetic recording medium surface. CONSTITUTION:On the magnetic layer 11' side of magnetic recording medium 11 running as shown by the arrow, main magnetic pole 12 made of a permalloy thin film of less than several mu in thickness is provided and on the opposite side of main magnetic pole 12, auxiliary magnetic pole 13 of about hundreds mu in thickness provided with winding 14 is provided to form a vertically-magnetized magnetic head. As for this magnetic head, the easy magnetization axis of the above-mentioned auxiliary magnetic pole 13 is set in parallel to the magnetic recording medium surface. Additionally, the auxiliary magnetic pole uses rectangular-parallelepiped Mn-Zn ferrite single crystal with its (100) surface perpendicular to the recording medium and this (100) surface is lapped, so that the recording efficiency of the high frequency band can further be improved.
