Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the recording efficiency of a vertical magnetization type magnetic head, by holding its primary magnetic pole by the flank member. CONSTITUTION:Main magnetic pole 2, sandwiched in between the 1st and 2nd flank members 5 and 6 from both the sides of the running direction of tape 1, is wound with coil 4. Flank member 6 positioned at the down side of the running direction of tape 1 is composed of the composite base plate obtained by uniting nonmagnetic member 6a, such as glass, and magnetic member 6b of high permeability, and the other flank member 5 is made of a nonmagnetic member. Coil 4 is wound around magnetic member 6b of flank member 6, so that main magnetic pole 2 can be energized with high efficiency.
