Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the recording efficiency and the resoluvability of the recording by restraining the expansion of the magnetic charge distribution of the main magnetic pole by providing the magnetic member layer of high magnetic permeability at a particular position of the side surface in a travelling direction of the magnetic recording medium of the main magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic recording medium 1 travels between the main magnetic pole 2 having a small thickness and the auxiliary magnetic pole 3 having large thickness and winding 4 wound around the main magnetic pole 2 with confronting the magnetic layer 1 to the magnetic pole 2. On the side surface situated downstream of the travellig direction of the medium 1 of this magnetic pole 2, the magnetic member 5 of high magnetic permeability of the same narrow tablet shape as the magnetic pole 2 is disposed contacting therewith so as to place the end surface thereof farther with respect to the medium member 1 than the end surface of the magnetic pole 2.
