PURPOSE:To facilitate and secure the winding of an energizing coil by preventing an adhesive from flowing in a groove for the winding in the manufacture of a vertical magnetization type magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:On mutually counter surfaces of a block body 11 of a magnetic member with high magnetic permeability, nonmagnetic material plates 12a and 12b each as part of a nonmagnetic holder are melt-stuck with glass, etc., and the block body is cut to obtain joined plate bodies. Then, a magnetic plate 13 is so formed that its ends are at the nonmagnetic material plates 12a and 12b. Nonmagnetic plates 15a and 15b provided with grooves 14 are melt-stuck with glass, etc., on both flanks across the joined plate having the formed magnetic pole 13. This joint body is cut as shown by alternate long and short dash lines and the circumferential surfaces are shaped to obtain a head chip. Into holes formed by the grooves 14, a winding is inserted to wind the magnetic pole 13 with an energizing coil 16 through a magnetic flank member (chip of block body 11), thus completing a vertical magnetization type magnetic head.
