Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture of a thin-film lamination type magnetic head of high reliability with a little damage in use by lapping a protective layer and substrate starting with a magnetic gap after forming the protective layer on magnetic layers of the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:On substrate 6, lower magnetic layer 7 is formed and on it, conductor coil 9 is provided via insulating layer 8; and then upper magnetic layer 11 with gap 10 is formed and next protective layer 12 made with glass, etc., high enough to upper magnetic layer 11 to be buried is provided. After this is cut into a wafer chip, protective layer 12 and substrate 6 are lapped along surface (X-X') slanting at angle alpha to the surface of substrate 6 through gap 10 and surface 13 on the inflow end side is beveled, thereby obtaining a thin-film magnetic head with a slider.
