Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film head having high reliability and high workability, by making a slider with a material having high workability and forming a protecting film with a hard material to protect a slider gas bearing surface and a thin film transducer. CONSTITUTION:A slider block 1a is made of barium titanate, ''Fotoceram '', etc. having high mechanical workability. A protecting film 4a is formed in several mum thickness with a material having high hardness like TiN, TiC, Al2O3, etc. to protect a slider gas bearing surface 2a and a thin film transducer 3a. Thus the reliability and the workability are improved for a thin film head.
