Abstract
PURPOSE:To continuously cast plural bloom casting slabs by partitioning the mold for continuous casting of slabs combined with the long sides and short sides to provide plural molds for blooms and using a bottomless varrel-form jig provided with easy-to-melt caps to the immersion nozzle portions of a tundish. CONSTITUTION:Between a ladle and a tundish 6 is hermetically closed by a hood and inert gas is introduced. The upper part of the inlets 7 of the immersion nozzles 8 of the tundish 6 are covered with a bottomless barrel-form jig 11 and easy-to-melt caps 13 such as of iron sheets are provided to the pouring ports 14. A mold 1 for continuous casting is combined with water-cooled long sides 2, 2 and short sides 3, 3 and its casting cavity 4 is partitioned to bloom casting cavities 4', 4' by a partition wall 5.
