Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify a dust collecting unit and to reduce the cost, by forming a filter bed in one piece continuously from plural stages of filter beds vertically in such a manner that the bed thickness increases from lower part to upper part.
CONSTITUTION: A filter bed 4 is made in a body casing 1 by packing movably granular filter medium 2 such as refractory material between supports 3. The filter bed 4 is composed of plural filter layers arranged vertically in one piece in such a manner that the thickness of the layer increases from the lower layer in turn to the upper layer. Dividing plates 10 are installed at every steps of the filter bed in opposite side alternately. Hereby, the exhaust gas passing from the lower steps of the filter bed to the upper steps flows at a higher speed in the lower steps than in the upper steps, decreasing the dust load. Hence, moving speed of the filter medium is smaller in higher steps than in the lower steps, so that the dust collecting efficiency at the higher steps is larger than that at the lower steps. Consequently this constitution simplifies the unit and reduces the cost.
