PURPOSE:To remove uneven heating in peripheral direction of steel tubing in induction heating of seamless steel tubing by a method wherein deviation in temperature or wall thickness in peripheral direction of the steel tubing is detected, and the result is used to move induction heater coil to low temperature or thick wall section of the tubing. CONSTITUTION:Seamless steel tubing M is moved on rollers 81-83 while being heated by induction heater coil 10. Plural number of detectors 11 for temperature or wall thickness are used to continuously measure the temperature or wall thickness of the steel tubing in peripheral direction. The detected signal is inputted to the calculator 12, while calculates location of low temperature or thick wall in peripheral direction of the steel tubing M. Center dilocating signal that approaches another induction heater coil 1 to the problem position is inputted to D/A converter 6 at a time after the specified delay. The signal is converted to analog quantity and is compared with location signal of potentiometers 51, 52 of the servo amplifier 7. Output from the servo amplifier 7 controls coil energize circuit for solenoid switch valves 41, 42, so that the axis center of the coil 21 is located at the position indicated by the output from the calculator 12. Thus, peripherally uniform temperature is given to the steel tubing M.
