Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out a dynamical friction test for an object to be tested under conditions close to practical ones, by contacting the object installed to a substrate, which is connected to a support plate, which can freely be moved up and down via plate springs and displaced in the horizontal direction, with a horizontally moving plate.
CONSTITUTION: An adjustment plate 9, a strain gauge 10 and a support plate 4 are moved up and down via a vertical position adjusting screw 8, and the support plate 4 and a substrate 2 are connected by plate springs 3.... The substrate 2 is freely displaced, and the amount of displacement is detected through a differential transformer 5. An object to be tested, such as, a brush, etc. attached to the substrate 2 is pressed against the surface of a horizontally moving plate 1 which is actuated by an electric drive unit. Reaction in the vertical direction between the moving plate 1 and the object while the object is pressed against the moving plate 1 is detected by the strain gauge 10. According to this structure, the reaction in the vertical direction and displacement, the moving speed of the moving plate 1, etc. can be set to the desired value. Accordingly, a dynamical friction test for the object can be carried out under the conditions close to practical ones.
