Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an economical apparatus by a method wherein the amount of vertical displacement of a stylus is made an input of an axis Y of an X-Y recorder and a value obtained by mutliplying the detected amount of vertical motion of a slant surface provided on a moving plate moving in the right and left direction by a prescribed multiple is made an input of an axis X of the recorder. CONSTITUTION:A Y-direction detector 6 is coupled to the moving plate 11 driven in the direction X through the intermediary of a screw 9 and a nut 10 connected with a motor 8 and is driven in the direction X. And, when the stylus 16 moves vertically, centering on a supporting point 14, according to the shape of a substance 2 to be measured, with the movement of the detector 6, the amount of displacement is detected by a Y-direction detector (a differential transformer) 17 and is made the input of the axis Y of the X-Y recorder 13. When the moving plate 11 moves in the direction of X, a measurer 22 is displaced according to the slant surface 11 through the intermediary of parallel springs 23 and 24. Meanwhile, a reference piece 29 moves in contact with a horizontal surface 30 through the intermediary of parallel springs 27 and 29. The difference l between the tips of the reference piece 29 and the measurer 22 is detected by a differential transformer 12, and the value thus detected is multiplied by the gradient of the slant surface 20, the product of which is made the input of the axis X. By this method, the economical device is obtained.
