PURPOSE:To reduce the consumption of fuel in the apparatus as well as miniaturize waste gas treatment apparatus by utilizing hot gas discharged from cooling process in calcination and burning processes as well as in preheating process in the burning process for raw materials for cement. CONSTITUTION:Powdered substances are passed from the raw materials supplier 21 through the preheater 22, the calcination furnace 23, and the burning apparatus 24, and then cooled in the cooler 25. The open air introduced into the cooler 25 as a cooling medium is heat-exchanged with burned substance to become hot gas, and part of the hot gas is introduced into the calcination furnace 23 and the burning apparatus 24 to utilize as part of air for the combustion of the burners 23a and 24a and all or part of the remaining hot gas is utilized as heat source for the preheater 25. Thus, the heat recovery rate of the hot gas can be raised and the amount of gas to be discharged from the cooler 25 can be reduced or made zero, permitting the dust collector 26 to be miniaturized or omitted.
