Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an alloy consisting of a respectively specified ratio of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Ni, Mo, V, Cu, Nb and the balance Fe, having a specified range of Cr equivalent, and exhibiting thermal impact resistance and high temp. wear and corrosion resistances.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy consists of C; 0.10W0.20%, Si; 0.3W0.8%, Mn; 0.4W 1.0%, Cr; 10W12%, Ni; 0.3W1.0%, Mo; 0.4W1.0%, V; 0.1W0.3%, Cu; 0.5W 1.0%, Nb; 0.05W0.2% and the balance Fe. These components are adjusted so that the Cr equivalent represented by Y=Cr+2Si+1.5Mo+0.5Nb-2Ni-2Cu is set within the range of Y=28×C%+9. When this alloy is heat treated, it is diffusion- annealed, hardened, and grain-refined at a temp. just above the transformation point. It is further heated rapidly to a temp. just above the transformation point by high frequency heating to facilitate grain refining, and finally it is tempered at a temp. just below the transformation point. Thus, the alloy can be made much superior to 13Cr stainless steel in certain mechanical characteristics and thermal impact resistance.
