Abstract

PURPOSE:To precisely detect a certain level of knocking in accordance with the change in engine conditions, by changing the value of multiplication according to the engine conditions in modifying the mean value provided by a knock sensor to a preset level. CONSTITUTION:A knock sensor 1 puts out a change in engine vibration as a voltage which is averaged by an averaging circuit 2 cmposed of an integrator to provide a fundamental voltage on the discriminating level. This voltage is amplified by a variable amplifier 5 up to an optimal multiple K under engine conditions at the time as a voltage on the discreiminating level and then put in a knock discriminating circuit 3. The circuit compares the sensor output with the voltage on the discriminating level. If a knocking is discriminated, a signal is put in an ignition time setting circuit 4 to provide optimal ignition time. A detecting circuit 7 detects the engine conditions in accordance with the output of a suction pressure sensor 6 to provide a function of amplifying rate for the amplifier 5.
