Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a thin-type light emitting diode indicator which has, good contrast and brightness by providing a compound lens on the surface thereof and a colored lens plate, having a projection on the back surface thereof, on the surface of a reflacting frame thereof.
CONSTITUTION: A light emitting diode (LED) 2 is provided fixedly on wires 6 formed on a substrate 1. Mounted on the substrate 1 is a white reflecting frame 3 having a hole 8 and a reflecting opening 7 surrounding the LED2 and forming a desired picture element at the upper opening end. A columnar compound lens is provided on the entire front surface, and a colored lens plate 9 having a lens plate fixing projection 12 on the back surface is provided on the front surface of the frame 3. For an indicator having a seven-segment display, the lens plate 9 is provided with a Fresnel lens on the seven-segment portion 10 and lenticular lens on the other portion 11. Thus, a high intensity band can be formed in the seven-segment portion with good contrast.
