Abstract

PURPOSE: To reset the abrupt change of welding current to steady value in a short time and suppress the spattering at the short-circuiting by superposing the output of a comparing amplifier in series to the time constant circuit of a phase shifter which controls the semiconductor element of a power controller.
CONSTITUTION: When the short-circuiting of an electrode 3 and base metal 4 is detected, the over detection signal and reference voltage are compared, causing the output voltage of a comparing amplifier 6 to decrease. Because of this, the voltage between a capacitor 13 and θ terminal decreases and the time for charging the capacitor 13 becomes long. When this voltage reaches the switching voltage of a switching element 16 and the switching element conducts, a semiconductor element is controlled, by which the output voltage of a controller 2 is decreased. In the half cycle from the time when the short-circuit current flows, it resets to the welding current of the steady time. When the welding current decreaes sharply, the output voltage of the comparing amplifier 6 increases and therefore it is reset to the welding current at the setting in the half cycle by the similar control circuit.
