Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent an influence of fluctuation of the quantity of incident light by controlling a detected scattering light value by detecting transmitted light as well as scattering light from a fixed measurement cell.
CONSTITUTION: Measurement cell 2 consists of glass blocks 11a and 11b, cylindrical beam penetration part 12 agreeing with the light axis of a laser incident beam, and black cell component material 15 provided with intake and outlet passage parts 13 and 14 communicating with part 12, and a detected liquid flowing through passage parts 13 and 14 is irradiated with the laser beam at penetration part 12. The intensity of the laser beam transmitted through this liquid is detected by photoelectric multiplier tube 10 and that of the laser beam scattered by the liquid is detected by photoelectric multiplier tube 9 through the condensation of lenses 5 and 7. This multiplier tube 10 is brought under feedback control through an operational amplifier to which a reference value has been set so as to keep constant the detection output of multiplier tube 10, and multiplier tube 9 is also controlled by its feedback control signal, so that detected scattering light intensity will have an influence of fluctuation of incident light corrected. The molecular weight of an eluate component resulting from the scattering light can therefore be measured with high precision.
