Abstract

PURPOSE:To continuously detect the passing condition of powder in non-contact manner by a method in which a belting form of light beam is irradiated onto powder falling down in a belting state and the light passing through the powder is detected. CONSTITUTION:Light coming from a light source 11 is formed into a belting form of light beam L in cylindrical lenses 12 and 13 and focused on a light receiver 16 through a cylindrical lens 17. The powder in a belting state, coming down from a powder charging apparatus 18, passes through a belting form of the light beam L, and as the flow rate of the powder is reduced, the output of the light receiver 16 is increased. The output of the light receiver 16 is put in a comparator 19 and compared with the output signal of a setter 20, the amounts of powder falling are displayed on a displayer 21 very moment. Thus, the passing condition of the powder can be continuously detected in non-contact manner.
