Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a linear output with respect to the concentration without a dividing device, by adjusting gain so that the transmitted light output becomes constant, and amplifying the scattered light output by the same gain. CONSTITUTION:The parallel light beams from a power source lamp 2 which is positioned at a focal point of a convex lens 3 are absorbed and scattered by dirt particles and the like in liquid to be measured 1 and detected by a transmitted light receiving cell 4 and scattered light receiving cells 5. The automatic gain control device (AGC) 10 automatically adjusts a variable resistor 91 of an amplifier 71 so that the output from the transmitted light receiving cell 4 is always kept constant. The AGC10 also concurrently adjusts a variable resistor 92 of an amplifier 72 so that the gains of the amplifiers 71 and 72 become the same. Thereafter the scattered light output 60 becomes a signal proportional to the turbidity concentration. Since the dividing device can be omitted, the device is inexpensive, and the errors due to division can be eliminated.
