Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent flying of ash during use by adding sodium silicate to conventional heat-retaining agent and making the same moldable.
CONSTITUTION: Heat-insulating heat-retaining agent comprises adding and kneading sodium silicate to carbonized chaff. Next, it is compression-molded to plate form, after which it is blown with carbon dioxide gas to be set and dried to the plate-form heat-retaining agent. Alternately, carbonized chaff is pulverized and is added and kneaded with sodium silicate and after the mixture is granulated with a granulator, carbon dioxide gas is blown thereto to set and dry the same to the guanular heat-retaining agent. Further, to impart exothermic characteristic, exothermic agent such as fine aluminum powder is added to carbonized chaff and the mixture is kneaded with sodium silicate in the similar manner as above, thence the mixture is molded to plate-or granular form.
