Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture granulated powder having inhibiting capacity for slag bear, by granulating raw material to be granulated comprising the base material for slag formation and aggregate with specific quantities of an aqueous soln. of alkali metal aluminate and an org. binder or a soln. of a mixture of org. binders.
CONSTITUTION: Granulated powder for continuous casting of steel is manufactured by addition of 3W80g (in terms of solid matter) an aqueous soln. of alkali metal aluminate, and 5W90g (in terms of solid matter) one or more kinds of binders having binding power at ordinary temp to 1kg raw material to be granulated comprising aggregate and base material for slag formation. For the base material for slag formation which is melted to form slag are used portland cement, fly ash, etc., and for the aggregate is used carbonaceous material such as coke, carbon black etc. Carbohydrate such as starch, dextrin, CMC, saccharides, and water soluble resins are used as the org. binder.
