Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the inverting period of an inverter by detecting the current of a capacitor for storing an inverting energy to switch the inverting mode.
CONSTITUTION: Choppers 13, 14 and auxiliary thyristor are energized simultaneously when an auxiliary thyristor 11 is conducted. Then, a capacitor 17 is discharged. The current of the main thyristor becomes zero, and the load current is inverted. When a zero current detector 67 for checking the difference output of a difference current detector 66 receiving the inputs of current detectors 18, 19 detects zero current and accordingly detects completion of inversion, the choppers 13, 14 are opened and the main thyristor is conducted. The thyristor 11 is rapidly turned off to thus complete the inverting sequence. At the next inverting timing an auxiliary thyristor 12 conducted and the main thyristor is turned off. Thus, the capacitor 17 is charged, and the thyristor 12 is turned off thus to complete the inversion.
