Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible to economically detect the opening of a thermocouple by charging a capacitor before the next metering operation and by subsequently discharging the charged voltage to a circuit having a thermocouple.
CONSTITUTION: The voltage at a metering point is stored by a thermocouple 1 in a capacitor 6 and then is converted into a temperature value by a CPU through an amplifier 9 and an A/D converter 10. Before the metering operation of the same point after the subsequent point or a preset time lapse is accomplished, the capacitor 6 is charged at such a DC voltage 16 as sufficiently high in comparison with the voltage generated in the thermocouple 1. The charged voltage resulting from the DC voltage is discharged to the circuit having the thermocouple 1. When the thermocouple 1 is open, the DC voltage sufficiently higher than the signal voltage at the subsequent or same point is impressed upon the metering circuit thereby to make it possible to easily judge the existence of the opening.
