Abstract
PURPOSE: To assuredly remove a yellow oxide film, formed on a silver vacuum- deposited film on the inside of a bulb, in a simple process by evacuating the bulb having the internal silver film while heating to reduce the film surface.
CONSTITUTION: Silver is vacuum-deposited on the inside of bulb 4 to form silver film 3. After windowing top portion 10 to form predetermined light-transmissive section 11, plug material 7 is airtightly inserted in base end opening 6 of bulb 4, and the interior of bulb 4 and vacuum pump 9 are connected through exhaust pipe 8. Bulb 4 is then placed in furnace 1 of about 330°C for about 3 min, and pump 9 is actuated to evacuate bulb 4 from atmospheric press. while heating bulb 4 in furnace 1. By this heat treatment the surface of film 3 is reduced in spite of accelerated oxidation, thereby removing a yellow oxide film formed on the surface of film 3. Bulb 4 is taken out of furnace 1, and a filament or the like is sealed in bulb 4.
