Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the residual impurity gases and improve the quality of the lamp, by heating and baking the bulb applied with a phosphor suspension while sending an inert gas thereinto and then immediately exhausting it.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphor suspension is applied to the inner surface of a bulb 1, and then it is dried to form a phosphor layer 2, followed by the sealing of stems 3 having thin tube 3 in the opposite end portions of the bulb 1. Then, an inert gas is sent into the bulb 1 through the thin tube 5 while the bulb 1 is heated in a heating furnace 10. By this heating, impurity gases in the phosphor layer 2 are sent out from the bulb 1 along with the inert gas. Immediately after this, the bulb 1 is connected to an exhausting apparatus to be subjected to a predetermined process. Thus, the residual impurity gases in the phosphor layer 2 are removed so that the quality of the lamp can be improved.
