Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the purification efficiency of the title compound, by heating a liquid in a purification column having integrated extractive distillation, stripping, and detoxicating functions with a heating means at the intermediate point of the column.
CONSTITUTION: Water which absorbed a crude olefinic unsaturated nitrile is fed from the line 2 into the purification column 1 having the three functions of extractive distillation, stripping, and detoxication. The bottoms (detoxicating liquids) are heated by the reboiler 6 to detoxicate cyanides in the part 5, and the waste water is discharged from the line 3. The conc. acetonitrile vapor is taken out of the line 9; the olefinic unsaturated nitrile, of the line 10. The liquid in the column is heated by a means, i.e. the heat exchanger 8 for side cuts at the intermediate point throught the vapor generated from the heating and concentrating vessel 7 from the bottom. Excessive heating of the bottoms is not required.
