Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable economical high-quality treatment of high-BOD waste water by combination of activated sludge process and reverse osmosis process.
CONSTITUTION: Directly or after dilution, high-BOD waste water is treated with activated sludge, and the treated water is subjected to reverse osmosis to obtain low- BOD clarified water. For example, raw (fermented) waste water is subjected to activated sludge treatment using aged sludge which has strong resorsification ability of low-molecular BOD constituents and strong flock forming ability. After separated from sludge, the treated water is fed to a film separator fitted with a reverse osomtic film having an NaCl blocking factor above 96%, and applied with a pressure of 35W50kg/cm2, so as to separate into filtrate 9 and BOD constituent condensate 1.
