Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce crank shaft's preparing, conveying and centering revolution and to shorten processing (or grinding) time by grinding pin section of the crank shaft in such a manner as to displace a grindstone forwardly and backwardly synchronously with revolution of a chuck of a main shaft bed.
CONSTITUTION: By turning a crank shaft 7 with a chuch 5 around a straigth line 6, by displacing a grindstone head 12 backwardly and forwardly (in X axial direction) at a stroke being 2 times of rotating radius of the crank shaft's pin section 17 and at the same cycle as the chuck 5's turning cycle and by maintaining a distance L between center of the pin section 17 and that of a grindstone 16 at a constant value, surface of the pin section 17 is ground by the grindstone 15. And grinding of a journal section of the crank shaft 7 is conducted by setting the grindstone head 12 still. In this manner, since it is possible to grind the pin section and the journal section at the same time simply by setting the crank shaft 7 to the position just one time by setting the center of the crank shaft's journal section to the center of rotation of the chuck 5, processing (or grinding) time can be shortened.
