Abstract

PURPOSE: To conduct an energy-saving operation of a blast furnace without using a refrigerating machine by using for removing moisture from air to be sent into the blast furnace a low-temperature LNG which is generated in a remote place and which is conveyed in the form of a liquefied carbon dioxide to the iron foundry.
CONSTITUTION: A liquefied carbon dioxide produced at a low cost in a remote place utilizing a low-temperature LNG is conveyed to an iron foundry by a coastal tanker or a tank lorry so as to be stored in a tank 1. This liquefied carbon dioxide is introduced into a header 4 in a water tank 2 via a pipe 26 and an adjusting valve 3 so as to be ejected into the water in a tank T3 from spray nozzles 6 provided on a distribution pipe 5 so that the water brought into contact with the liquefied carbon dioxide is thereby cooled. This cooled water flows under a sheeting 73 into a tank T4 and sent into a cooler 91 by a pump 81. While the cooled water flows through a heat transmitting pipe 301 in the cooler 91, the moisture in the air is removed as the heat thereof is removed by the cooled water. The cooled water is thereafter returned to a tank T1 and flows under a sheeting 71 into a tank T2 to overflow into the tank T3.
