Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify an apparatus and to perform smooth and quick operation, by providing extinguishing and steam-recovery apparatus capable of sealing top and bottom of a container at the terminal of a withdrawal rail for the transfer of the container.
CONSTITUTION: After coke is housed, an extinguishing car is travelled to a point where a container rail and withdrawal rain 11 meet, and stopped. Then container 4 is disengaged from the truck and the container 4 is pulled by bringing into contact with magnet 14 of pulling truck 13. Thus the container 4 is set between top cover 21 and bottom cover 22 by the action of moving means 15. After the top cover 21 and bottom cover 22 are brought into close contact with the top and bottom of the container 4, respectively, by the operation of hydraulic cylinders 24, 25, water is successively injected through spray nozzle 29 onto the redhot coke in each section by means of valve action. The redhot coke is extinguished with the water-steam mixture, and superheated steam flowing through a grate is continuously introduced through the bottom cover 22, dust, etc. to a device for reusing the steam.
