Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform an effective disposal of red tide by perishing red-tide plankton by a procedure in which red tide is partially cooled, the other part of red tide is heated to an appropriate temperature, both tide portions are mixed together, and then oxygen is supplied.
CONSTITUTION: Red tide is partially cooled and also partially heated and both the cooled tide and the heated tide are mixed together to cause a rapid temperature change to take place in the red tide, and then oxygen is supplied to the mixture. For example, red tide is introduced from the intake 1 into the ship's flow tank 2, supplied to the cooler 4 and the condenser 5 at the same flow rate by means of the pump 3, whereby the red tide is partially cooled by approx. 10°C on one hand and also partially heated by 5W10°C on the other. Then, these tide portions are introduced into the mixing tank 9 at the same flow rate to cause a rapid temperature change to take place, thereby perishing plankton. Then, oxygen is supplied to the mixture by injecting air through the air-injection pipe 11 inside the red tide disposing tank 10 from near the bottom of the tank 10.
