Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a method of manufacturing a fluorscent lamp, comprising the steps of fitting an electrode stem together with lead wires in each of recesses formed in a pair of glass containers, and coupling together mating coupling faces of the glass containers and positioning the electrode stems in respective recesses by way of fusing or bonding, so that number of manufacturing jobs can be reduced and it is enabled to locate the lead wires correctly at required positions.
CONSTITUTION: In coupling together a pair of glass continers 1, 2, fluorescent material is coated and baked on the inner surface of said containers, and solder glass having a low melting point is applied, as sealing meterial 27, on coupling surfaces 3, 4 by way of screen printing. The same sealing material is applied also on the surfaces of recesses 5, 6, 7, 8 by use of a suitable coating means. Then, electrode stems 11, 12 are positioned in these recesses, and after positioning filaments 15, 16 correctly, exhaust tubes 25, 26 and lead wires 21, 22, 23, 24 are also fitted in the recesses. Correct positioning of the filaments can be attained simply by holding the exhaust tubes 25, 26 by hand.
