Abstract

PURPOSE: In a lamp bulb wherein an electrode rod constitutes electrode part, sealing part, and external lead rod part, to prevent the breakage of the external lead rod during the production and use of the bulb by coating the central portion (leaving end portions) of a lead wire with molten sealing glass and fitting a metal pipe to the coated portion.
CONSTITUTION: The central portion (leaving end portions) of a 0.5 mm ϕ tungsten electrode rod 1 is coated with molten sealing glass 2, and a Ni pipe 3 is fitted to the coated portion, with the end 4 pressed onto the external end 5 of the electrode rod 1 which serves also as an external lead rod. The external lead rod of the stem is connected with a lead wire 6. The electrode rod 1 is inserted into a luminescent bulbe main tube 7, and the joint of the main tube 7 and the sealing glass 2 is heated in a reducing gas or innert gas to seal the joint while coaxially rotating the both bodies. The sealing portion and the pipe 3 are fitted with a cap 9 through a heat- resistant cement 8. The cap 9 is electrically connected to the lead wire 6 by solder 10.
