Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent luminous flux from abnormally weakening when restricting mercury vapor pressure during lighting with a thin glass tube arranged at an electrode stem filled with mercury of amalgam state by placing a metal which remains solid until melting of the amalgam is finished on the inner surface of the thin tube where the amalgam is in contact. CONSTITUTION:A luminescent bulb 1 of a bent shape is installed in an outer structure consisting of a case 5 with a cap connected to both a choke stabilizer and a lighting tube 3, and a globe 6. A stem 7 is seal-attached and an electrode 9 is held via a lead wire 8 at each end of the luminescent bulb 1. Amalgam 11 consisting of Bi-In-Hg for restricting mercury vapor pressure during lighting is sealed in the thin glass tube 10 of the stem 7 on one end of the tube 1. Further arranging a metallic oxide layer 12 on a contact surface, and further amalgam 11 and a glass rod 13 for holding the amalgam are sealed. Arranging the metallic oxide layer on the contact surface in this way, the amalgam is prevented from excessively cooled.
